The Offshore Combat Force-Philippine Fleet of the Philippine Navy has sent the sailing crew for the newest addition to Navy’s assets, the BRP Andres Bonifacio.
“Offshore Combat Force sends sailing crew to SFC, USA for the transfer of ex-USCGC Boutwell (WHEC-719),” Philippine Fleet’s Offshore Combat Force said in its social networking page July 20.
Today, the United States Coast Guard is scheduled to officially transfer decommissioned cutter USCGC Boutwell (WHEC-719) to Philippine Navy. The transfer ceremony will be held at Coast Guard Base Alameda in California.
“The decommissioned cutter was declared an excess government asset and is being transferred to the Philippines through the Excess Defense Articles program,” the US Coast Guard said.
Captain Brendo J. Casaclang who is BRP Andres Bonifacio’s prospective commanding officer along with Philippine Fleet commander Rear Admiral Bayani Gaerlan will attend the said ceremony.
BRP Andres Bonifacio will be joining BRP Gregorio del Pilar, BRP Ramon Alcaraz in Philippine Navy’s list of Gregorio del Pilar-class frigate.
