President Rodrigo Duterte, in his interview with GMA News’ Jessica Soho, said he will not make war with China but he will make a noise if the Chinese government begins extracting the natural resources in West Philippine Sea.
“When you begin to extract the oil which real, is really money. When you begin to extract the minerals there — sasabihin ko sa kanya, ‘what about me?’ You are the owner, I am also the owner, so what’s going to happen to us? But it’s not the time, tayo ang nageextract diyan (Malampaya)” the President said.
He added that the Philippines will not be at the disadvantage in a possible joint exploration with China.
“Hindi tayo dehado. Wala talaga tayong magawa because gusto ko man mag-giyera ngayon. Maybe you can ask the new ambassador [from United States], I’m willing to declare war against China tomorrow provided ‘yung entire (United States Navy) Seventh Fleet ilagay mo diyan sa (West Philippine Sea), pati ‘yung mga eroplano mo i-transfer mo, all the missile para sigurado tayong manalo,” he added.
“Eh kung magpugpog na rin lang ako, do you think that we will win? Even in the fantasy, you think we will win a war? I will not. But I will make a noise, certainly because I claim to be the owner. But this is not the time.
“Pero ngayon kung kutkutin mo ‘yan seabed, then you extract actually money there, eh mag-usap na tayo,” President Duterte said.
