Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar on Wednesday, March 8 made an inspection on the current construction of North Luzon Expressway-Harbor Link. He made an assurance that the project, which is 65% completed, will be finished before the end of 2017.
He also created a task force to fast track the acquisition of properties located in the way. He said that his department is coordinating with the owners of infrastructure projects to solve the right-of-way problems standing in the way of the project completion.
NLEX-Harbor Link will give trucks and other vehicles from NLEX a route to Port Area in Manila.
NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 an elevated 5.65-km expressway connecting NLEX Harbor Link Segment 9 at MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City to C-3 Road (5th Avenue) in Caloocan City.
The 2.4-km Segment 9 is an expressway directly connecting Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City.
Meanwhile, 8-km elevated expressway NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project is also in the pipeline. The project was awarded in September 2016. It will start from NLEX-Harbor Link Segment 10 at C-3 Road in Caloocan City to run through Manila crossing Espana towards PUP, Sta. Mesa connecting to Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 (MMSS3) which is now under construction.
“It complements the NLEX Harbor Link as a gateway to the Port Area by providing southbound access and further enhancing truck mobility in the area,” Manila North Tollways Corporation said.
Mentioned projects, aside from Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 (MMSS3), are being undertaken by Manila North Tollways Corporation owned by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, a subsidiary of Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 (MMSS3), which is also under construction, is under San Miguel Corporation-led Citra Central Expressway Corporation (CCEC). It is a 14.82 km. 6-lane elevated toll road and the last of three (3) stages of Metro Manila Skyway (MMS) System.
It is intended to connect South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) at Alabang to Balintawak in Quezon City before North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) through Central Metro Manila Area by using predominantly median of Quirino, G. Araneta and A. Bonifacio road networks.
