Several parts of Luzon experienced earthquake around 9 pm April 4. Reports of movement were made from Lucena, Cavite, Laguna, and Metro Manila.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has recorded a magnitude 5.4 earthquake in 13.71°N, 120.83°E – 007 km N 37° W of Tingloy (Batangas), 8:58 pm.
PHILVOCS added that intensity 4 was felt in Makati and Obando, Bulacan; intensity 3 in Mandaluyong City, Quezon City, General Trias & Dasmarinas in Cavite, Santa Ana in Manila, and Lucena City in Quezon; intensity 2 in Talisay in Batangas and Pasig City.
PHILVOCS noted that no damage is expected, while aftershocks can be felt.
“The event parameters (hypocenter, time and magnitude) are determined using incoming data from the Philippine National Seismic Network,” PHILVOCS said in its Earthquake Bulletin.
PHILVOCS is a Philippine national institution dedicated to provide information on the activities of volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, as well as other specialized information and services primarily for the protection of life and property and in support of economic, productivity, and sustainable development. It is one of the service agencies of the Department of Science and Technology.
