The Philippines is part of the most modern and advanced Airbus aircraft in its fleet, Airbus A350’s global value chain. “The galleys and primary flight control system actuators of the A350 are actually being produced in the country making the Philippines officially part of Airbus’ global value chain,” DFA said.
MOOG – a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision motion control products and systems – which has a plant Baguio is the sole supplier of Airbus A350’s flight control system actuators.
While B/E Aerospace, the sole supplier of galleys and trolley compartments for the A350, has a facility at the First Philippine Industrial Park in Tanauan City, Batangas. Galley is the compartment of an aircraft where food is cooked or prepared.
“Annual export receipts generated by these activities are expected to increase from US$80 million in 2014 to over US$300 million by 2020,” DFA said.
Philippine Ambassador to France Maria Theresa P. Lazaro made a visit to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France last month and toured the assembly line and mock-up of the A350. Ambassador Lazaro was accompanied by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rapunzel Acop and newly-appointed Philippine Honorary Consul in Toulouse Jeffrey Cabuay.
