The Foreign Affairs Minister of China Wang Yi paid a courtesy call to President Benigno Aquino III today, November 10 at the Music Room of the Malacañan Palace. Wang Yi is in the country for a working visit at the invitation of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario.
Del Rosario, Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. and Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda joined the President in welcoming the visiting Chinese official.
The Chinese official was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua.
Wang Yi and del Rosario are expected to exchange views to find ways how to improve the deteriorating relationship between China and the Philippines.
They will also make preparations for the planned Manila visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting next week.
