The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is warning Filipino consumers against substandard Christmas lights with fake Import Commodity Clearance stickers. DTI said substandard quality of these lights may make them unsafe to use.
Uncertified Christmas lights may cause fire accidents, which may lead damage to lives and properties, DTIA warned.
“Christmas lights with fake or without ICC stickers found in the stores were sold for only P60-P80 per pack,” DTI said. “Prices of Christmas lights with genuine ICC stickers in reliable stores range from P300-P500 per pack.”
In Bicol, close to 10 establishments were monitored and some were found to be selling Christmas lights with fake or without ICC stickers. These products were inventoried and sealed because these are not to be sold in the market. Rolls of fake ICC stickers were likewise confiscated, DTI said.
