The Philippine National Police has deployed its brand-new equipment from United States for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense during Asia Pacific Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting. Four complete sets of Second Line Defense (SLD) Mobile Detection System (MDS) vans and other equipment donated by the United States Department of Energy (US-DOE), through its National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) were turned over to PNP during simple rites today in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
“The arrival of four MDS vans with its accessories contributes to our efforts in the PNP to ensure the safety and security of all delegates and participants. I do hope that with this additional mobility and operational effectiveness, our personnel will be able to perform their duties effectively and efficiently in maintaining peace and order and security before, during and after the conduct of APEC Summit, Leaders Meeting,” PNP Chief, Police Director General Ricardo Marquez said.
The donation includes: four (4) Mercedez Benz Sprinter vans with installed detector module kits, four (4) sets of office accessories and traffic control safety equipment, four (4) radiation detection backpacks and associated accessories, 12 Radiation Pager personal radiation detectors, four (4) FLIR Systems identiFINDER 2 NG Radioactive Isotope Devices (RIIDs), four (4) Rapiscan PRM-470 CG survey meters, two (2) MDS spare parts kits, one (1) replacement laptop, three (3) SLD maintenance kits, and one (1) SLD source kit.
