President Rodrigo Duterte, before the men of Armed Forces of the Philippines-Southern Luzon Command, said he was informed that communist rebels ambushed four, one killed and three injured, members of Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) under the supervision of the 60th Infantry Battalion in Kapalong town, Davao Del Norte.
The President said after hearing the information he called one leftist congressman. “Sabi ko ano ba to? Are we in into this truce or are we not? Sabi ko sa kanila give me an answer by tonight because pag tomorrow wala, tatanggalin ko ang [ceasfire], ay balik tayo sa away.”
“If you do not honor and you kill a single soldier or a CAFGU who is also a soldier of the Republic, ay sabi ko kalimutan na natin ito, fight nalang. Sabi ko I am demanding an explanation from the Communist Party of Philippines, and just like us kung nagkasala kami dito (military, government) we punish our men and women sa serbisyo,” he said.
“Expect the same and I demand an answer na kung sino nagkasala they must be also be put under disciplinary action, otherwise wala tayong pinagusapan,” the President added.
President Duterte then appealed to soldiers listening not to feel aggrieved. “I will not allow ganung infractions.”
