President Rodrigo Duterte speaking to men of Armed Forces of the Philippines-Southern Luzon Command at Camp Guillermo Nakar today, said that during the National Security Council meeting held Wednesday, July 27 former Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines gave their advise regarding the West Philippine Sea issue.
“We take the advise of the elders. President Arroyo said caution,” the President said. “President Estrada said restrain, si President Aquino ganun [din] naman.”
He added that former President Aquino won for the Philippines the arbitration case filed at the Permanent Court of Arbitration. “He won for us the case,” President Duterte said.
He said he thanked Aquino for giving the start. “It was he who filed, it was upon his instruction,” Duterte said.
He also said he will let former President Ramos to initiate and navigate early talks with the Chinese government.
“Then maybe when the final talks are there, tapos magkaharap na kami, then that would be the time na magpaprangkahan na tayo. This is our position, this is what we have, we will not go out of it, so we talk. So what is your position,” President Duterte said.
