The Philippine Air Force on July 26 conducted the biggest aero-medical evacuation to date. This involved wounded soldiers fighting in Marawi City.
Approximately 80 wounded soldiers where transported by a C-130 aircraft in single mission.
The flight was from Laguindingan Airport to Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City
“The flight was immediately outfitted for an aero-medical evacuation led by the C-130 load masters to accommodate litter patients,” the 220 Airlift Wing said.
“Notwithstanding the fact that these patients need better medical attention and care in specialized treatment facilities in Manila, this is also one way of decongesting the increasing number of patients in Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Cagayan De Oro City in order for them to accommodate incoming battle casualties,” 220AW said.
