Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said that United States think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is not releasing all the satellite imagery of the disputed part of West Philippine Sea, thus, failing to give the whole picture.
The foreign affairs chief said it is not only China who is building in disputed waters.
Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI) is active in monitoring Chinese activities in West Philippine Sea. AMTI was conceived of and designed by Washington-based think tank CSIS.
“Sometimes they go into Philippine interest, sometimes hindi. What I’ve noticed about CSIS is that they don’t give you all the pictures,” Cayetano said in a press conference as quoted by ABS-CBN News.
“Because if they show that, everyone will be protesting against each other. Because it’s not only China who’s building,” he added.
Secretary Cayetano also said that proposed Philippines-China joint exploration in West Philippine Sea will conform with the Constitution.
“It’s complicated because you have the commercial side. It has to be commercially and economically viable and of course there are industry standards in sharing but it has to be in conformity with our Constitution,” he said.
