Chinese media deplored on Tuesday a news outlet in Pakistan for coming out with fake news which claims that at least 158 Indian soldiers were killed and several others were injured in Sikkim following a Chinese rocket attack.

According to People’s Daily website people.cn, the Chinese mainstream media described it “groundless” report which is still posted at Dunya News’s website.

The Dunya News, a 24-hour Urda language news service, reported on Monday that the incident happened when China fired rocket launchers, machine guns and mortars across border on Indian border installations.

The news outlet based the report from a two-minute footage that was allegedly broadcast on China Central Television.

Some Pakistani media outlets, however, claimed that Dunya News got its fake news from unverified information from social media and the Internet.

According to people.cn report, Chinese media outlets have carried out a series of investigations, claiming that fake news should not be taken seriously.

The Global Times branded the Dunya News’ report as “groundless and fake.”

The People’s Daily said Chinese embassy in India has denounced the fake news.

According to report of Hindustan Times on Monday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Gopal Baglay called the report as “utterly baseless, malicious and mischievous.”
