The Chinese government will be donating 100,000 young Lapu-Lapu fish to Filipino fishermen in Palawan. This was announced by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his 2-day visit to Manila on July 24 and 25.
“In order to help Philippine fishermen increase production and improve their livelihood in the near future, China will provide 100,000 young Lapu-Lapu fish to fishermen of Palawan region,” Wang Yi said as quoted by Philstar.com.
Wang Yi also expressed China firm support to Philippines’ pursuit of independent foreign policy. “An independent Philippines will bring the country dignity and status in the international arena,” he said.
Moreover, during the Chinese official’s visit the Memorandum of Agreement on strengthening cooperation between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Chinese Foreign Ministry was signed.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano is optimistic that both sides shall harness the positive momentum generated by warm Philippines-China collaboration in the areas of tourism, trade, finance, cooperation against illegal narcotics, terrorism, sports, arts, culture, and science and technology, among others.
