A United States Marine Corps (USMC) KC-130 refueling aircraft crashed July 10 in Leflore County in Mississippi, USA. USA Today reports that according to officials the mishap killed 16.
Lockheed Martin KC-130 is an extended-range tanker version of the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft modified for aerial refueling.
It is a multi-role, multi-mission tactical tanker/transport which provides the refueling support required by the USMC for its aircraft.
The mishap was confirmed by USMC in its official micro blogging account.
“A USMC KC-130 mishap occurred the evening of July 10. Further information will be released as available,” USMC said.
“Please join Deborah and me in praying for those hurting after this tragedy. Our men and women in uniform risk themselves every day to secure our freedom,” Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said in his official networking page.
