Northern Luzon Command information officer Lieutenant Colonel Isagani Nato, in a report in ABS-CBN News website, said that 2 Vietnamese fishermen who were allegedly illegally fishing in West Philippine Sea 32 nautical miles off Bolinao, Pangasinan on September 23 were killed by Philippine Navy.
Lieutenant Colonel Nato added that five other Vietnamese fishermen were accosted and turned over to Bolinao police. Nato said the Navy chased the Vietnamese fishermen who tried to evade arrest.
The alleged illegal fishers also fought back prompting the Navy to fire back.
Nato said the Philippine National Police, the Navy, and Department of Foreign Affairs are now conducting investigation into the incident.
