President Rody Duterte on September 4 met with leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and officials of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) at Malacañang Palace.
MILF Chair Al Haj Murad Ebrahim and MILF Peace Implementing Panel Chair Mohagher Iqbal represented the revolutionary group while BTC Chair Ghazali Jaafar, BTC Commissioner Abdulraof Macacau, and BTC Executive Director Esmael Pasigan represented BTC.
BTC was created in December 2013 tasked to come up with a draft on the Bangsamoro Basic Law, which would serve as the basis of a new Bangsamoro political entity, in accordance to the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro. It will cease operations upon the enactment of a Bangsamoro Basic Law.
Duterte was joined by Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza, National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Jr., Interior and Local Government Acting Secretary Catalino Cuy, and Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
