“Sinuswelduhan ka ng gobyerno, ng taongbayan, tapos kontra ka nang kontra sa sinasabi. Hindi bale yung kontra eh pero pinipintasan mo pa, hindi maganda talaga yun,” Senate Majority Floor Leader Senator Vicente Sotto III said in an interview, as quoted by GMA News Online, when asked to comment on House of Representatives move to give Commission on Human Rights (CHR) a 1,000 pesos budget for 2018.
“Ako nga, simple lang sinasabi ko, kasi naman, dapat naman kasi, ikaw, nagta-trabaho ka sa isang gobyerno, hindi mo gusto yung mga polisiya nung mga namumuno, eh ‘di umalis ka, diba?” he said
“Pwede ring confine yourself to the issues. Stop barking at the President or the policy of the government. Policy ng presidente yun, eh ‘di umalis ka,” he added.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte, in an interview on September 12, said CHR Chairman Chito Gascon “had it coming.”
“Ito si Gascon, palibhasa pro-dilaw talaga, he opens his mouth in a most inappropriate way and he conducts the business of being CHR. Walang alam. ‘Yan galit ang mga congressman,” he said. “Ako walang akong ano sa kanya. Bigyan mo ‘yan ng budget. For all I care kung anong gusto niyang imbestigahan.”
