Duterte: China may provide bullet train for Bicol Express

President Rodrigo Duterte during the Federalism Summit and PDP-Laban Oath-Taking at the Capitol Convention Center, Camsur Water Sports Complex (CWC) in San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur vowed that the train line from Manila to Bicol will be revived.

The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Board already approved the changing of financing mode of the said train line project PNR South Long Haul Project also known as the Bicol Express to Chinese official development assistance (ODA) loan.

“Kung matuloy ‘yan, maybe not during my time but meron – mabalik ninyo ‘yung train, baka ibigay ng China ‘yung bullet train,” the President said.

“Kasi ‘pag nawalaan ang break niyan, tuloy-tuloy na kayo sa Abra, hanggang Taiwan. Bullet train eh,” Duterte quipped drawing laughter from the audience. “Sakay ka dito, midway nawalaan ng break. Ah, ba-bye. Hindi mo na mahinto ‘yan. Tuloy-tuloy ng Abra ‘yan, hanggang Taiwan. Maybe I can find you there somewhere in the street of Taiwan.”

On a more serious tone the President said the project will be completed because it was already initiated. “Matatapos ‘yan, nag-uumpisa na eh.”

“Kaya sabi ko nga sa local, ‘pag maghingi ‘yan ng mga permit sa environment, ganun, do not delay it. If you have an objection, then write me a letter. Tell me why,” Duterte said. “Pero ‘pag upuan ninyo ‘yan, I will investigate you and maybe suspend you for failing to act on time. That is neglect of duty.”

“‘Yang Manila-Bicol run, if it is restored, that would greatly enhance the progress of the Bicol area,” he said.
