President Rodrigo Duterte’s team of economic managers are currently in United States for the Philippine Economic Briefing to entice American investors to come to the Philippines.
The team is led by Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III joined by Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Socio-Economic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Ernesto Pernia, Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin Diokno, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Diwa Gunigundo, and Ayala Group’s Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.
“This mission is a great opportunity for the economic team to highlight to US policy makers and the business community the incredible potential of the Philippine economy, which continues to be the fastest growing economy in the most dynamic sub-region in the fastest growing area in the world,” Cayetano said in a statement.
Dominguez in a speech at the New York leg of the Philippine Economic Briefing cited the United States as the Philippines’ “ally of long-standing” that has helped the country not only beef up its defense capability but also build effective institutions of governance.
The team will also the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., which will bring together the world’s central bankers, ministers of finance and other key government officials in the US capital to discuss the world economic outlook, aid effectiveness and other relevant concerns.
