The first Beechcraft TC-90 aircraft donated by the Japanese government was activated today, November 21 by Philippine Navy Philippine Fleet at Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.
The said aircraft is among the first two TC-90s Japan turned over last March 27, 2017.
The now active TC-90 aircraft has tail number 390. It was fitted with navigation and maritime air surveillance equipment aside from some other upgrades.
Philippine Fleet spokesperson Lieutenant Sahirub Taib said the activation of the aircraft will boost the operations and maritime air surveillance capability of Philippine Navy Naval Air Group (NAG).
Three more Japanese TC-90 aircraft are expected to arrive early 2018.
