219 Agent-trainees begin Drug Enforcement Officers Basic Course

219 New Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agent-trainees have taken their oath of office during the Reception Rites for Drug Enforcement Officers Basic Course (DEOBC) Class 2017-11 on December 12 at the PDEA Academy in Camp Castañeda, Silang, Cavite.

PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino led the said reception rites.

The agent-trainees will undergo six-month rigorous training.

On the same day, 126-strong Maragtala Class 2017-10 of PDEA Academy completed their training. Aquino also led the ceremony as as Guest of Honor and Speaker.

110 of the 126 agents will be involved in close scrutiny of cargoes entering the country and will also sit beside X-ray technicians of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) to help in the detection of smuggled illegal drugs.

The remaining 16 will be assigned to PDEA’s Financial Investigation Unit to enhance the agency’s capability to follow drug money trail and investigate possible money laundering activities.
