Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade met with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) representatives to discuss official development assistance (ODA) for the MRT-3 Rehabilitation and Maintenance Project, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said December 17.
In November, DOTr said it is conducting high level talks with the Japanese government to negotiate for an engagement with Sumitomo Corporation and its technical partner Mitsubishi Heavy Industries through Government-to-Government (G2G) Official Development Assistance (ODA) platform.
“Sumitomo and Mitsubishi Heavy designed, built, and maintained the MRT-3 in its first 12 years of operations,” DOTr said.
DOTr said it is looking into a three-year contract for the “rehabilitation and restoration of the system to its original performance standards.”
