The Philippine government on December 1 has signed a contract with NSTren Consortium which will provide construction supervision and tender assistance consultation for the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Clark Phase 1 which will start from Tutuban in Manila to Malolos, Bulacan.
The construction of the said rail line will start December 2017-January 2018.
“This shows we are not all about ‘talk.’ We don’t just talk, talk, talk. We don’t just build, build, build. We achieve, achieve, achieve,” Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade said.
PNR Clark Phase 1, also known as the North-South Commuter Railway Project, was approved by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Board in February 2015 with signing of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan in November 2015.
Meanwhile, Phase 2, the Malolos-Clark segment is a proposed 69.5 kilometer mass transportation railway that will extend Tutuban-Malolos phase. It will extend to Clark International Airport and New Clark City.
The Tutuban-Malolos segment is targeted to be partially operational by 2020 and fully completed by 2021, while construction of the Malolos-New Clark City segment is seen to be completed by 2022. with PNA
