Today, United States and Republic of Korea (South Korea) air forces launched VIGILANT ACE 18 which wil be a “realistic air combat exercise”.
The US Air Force said VIGILANT ACE, a regularly scheduled flying exercise, will be held on the Korean Peninsula from December 4 to 8.
It will be participated by 12,000 US Navy, Air Force, and Marines personnel along with airmen from the ROK Air Force. 230 aircraft and eight US and ROK military installations will be utilized.
“This realistic air combat exercise is designed to enhance interoperability between U.S. and Republic of Korea forces and increase the combat effectiveness of both nations,” the US Air Force said.
“Previously known as Beverly Bulldog, this exercise is regularly scheduled training, held annually, and VIGILANT ACE 18 highlights the longstanding military partnership, commitment and enduring friendship between two nations. It is designed to ensure peace and security on the Korean Peninsula, and reaffirms the U.S. commitment to stability in the Northeast Asia region,” it added.
